POLICIES FOR TUTORING
Tutoring Location:
I work from the Lakewalk Clubhouse in Hamlin Village (next to the Cinepolis). Unfortunately, I am not able to do home visits.
Rates:
Hourly Pricing:
$50 per hour.
Package Pricing:
$350 per month for 2 hours per week. Can be either (1) two-hour session, or (2) one-hour sessions!
Schedule:
Elementary: 1 hour sessions at least twice per week
Middle School: 1-1.5 hour sessions at least twice per week
High school: 1.5-2 hour sessions at least twice per week
Cancellations/ Schedule Changes:
If either your student or I have a conflict or are sick, I will do my best to reschedule during the same week. Please try to cancel with at least 24 hours notice, but I understand unpredictable things happen!
My cancellation fee is half of the session cost if cancellations happen with less than 24 hours notice 2 weeks in a row. I spend hours outside of the sessions prepping materials and lesson planning, so this fee just covers some of that time.
Schedule Changes for Package Plans:
If either of us will be unavailable to meet in person for more than a week, we will come up with a plan to either:
Reschedule/ add sessions to the following weeks or month
Meet on zoom for virtual sessions during the absence
If neither of these solutions work, I will provide the equivalent amount of free sessions/ hours during the next month (the monthly rate will be discounted)
For example, if we miss 2 hours and are unable to reschedule or meet over zoom, the following month will cost $250 instead of $350
Multiple Subjects:
If your student needs support in more than one subject, I highly recommend scheduling at least 2 sessions per week to allow us enough time to work on learning gaps, homework and test prep.
Structure:
I spend the first couple sessions on diagnostic assessments to get a better idea of your student’s strengths and learning gaps. I will also:
I customize lesson plans based on the results of the assessments and parent and student goals. This involves warmups, specific skill practice and activities, synthesizing skills for abstract concepts, homework help, study skills, and test prep. I use manipulatives (hands-on materials), carefully selected workbooks and textbooks, my own created materials, and a variety of games for engagement.
I use a scaffolded approach to learning where I model new skills, guide the students to practice the skill, then give them the opportunity to practice independently.
